OBITUARY
Private advice has been received in J.nvercargill that Dr. Hugh J. McCaw died in London oil the 26th inst., of pneumonia. .Mr William Keay Brown, of Moxhani avenue. Kilbirnic, Wellington, whose death was recorded recently, waa horn in. Scotland in 18-14, and landed in Punedin over CO years ago. After spending some time there he visited the various gofcliiclds and came on to Wellington, in which district ho has resided for" the past 08 years. He was a bridge builder and contractor, and constructed quite ;v number of the earlier bridges in the Hutt district, some of which axe sai'il in existence. Retiring some 30 years a<lo, im had since led a secluded \ifv>. c : cntontinrr himself with literature and Nature .•-.i.Jidics. In his younger days he was rotod for his great strength, being :i man or 6ft 2in in height, with breadth and muscularity in proportion.
