DOMAIN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. Tire monthly meeting of the Ghrislohurch Domain Board was held yesterday afternoon, Mr H. J. Beswick presiding. Mr P. L. Hallerxtein wrote asking whether the Board could tee its way to amend the by-law relating to doge, so ae to make U legal for a person to take a dog into tho gardens, provided that it was on a leash, it was decided to refer the matter to the Curator for a report. He had eaid that if tfie road were lighted up by electricity It would make an id-eal drive. The chairman said that the matter had been previously considered, and it had bow thought that it would be necessary to establish ft lodge nt each end of the drive to regulate the traffic. Mr Holland, continuing, said that J>e thought further consideration should be given to it and a suggestion that a carriage drive should bo formed round the Park. This, he thought, would be splendid lor convalescent eoldiers and invalids. The chairman said that the coat of sues an undertaking would bo considerable, but as the war 6eemed within measurable distance ot conclusion there might soon be an opportunity to carry out tho work. The two suggestions were then referred to the Gardens Committee. The Curator reported that the new cricket area had been fenccd, and the work of cultivating tho land in the North Park would b completed next week. ■ He hoped to ce*nmence planting potatoes during next we*k 'here. Tho garden work was well in hana, and all the bedding-out would be complete.! within a week. The sinking of a well in the cricket ground would be commenced a? soon tlto- contractor could securo the mar; to do fbe work. The report was adopted. The financial statement, showing a credit, balance of £325 7s Id, was received.
