Tho Press Bureau states that, owing to the influenza epidemic, the Ministry of National- Servico is releasing many members of Medical Boards; also n order further to reinforce civil practice, the Ministry has temporarily can-c-clldd notices calling up men for medical examination. The influenza epidemic is seriously affecting the crew of Messrs RichardKon3 and Co.'s vessel Mako, which is lying at the breastwork at Port Ahtiriri. Besides two suffering from tho epidemic who were removed to tho Napier Hospital on Tuesday night, another was removed to that institution to-day, whilst to-morrow morning 6ix others will also be taken there. These sis cases are not of a serious nature. After thoy havo been removed, tho vessel will he quarantined, and thoroughly fumigated. She is not expected to proceed on her voyage to Auckland before Monday next. OUTBREAE:~ON PALOONA. (PRESS association telegram.) WELLINGTON, October 30. During tho voyage 'or tho Paloona, between San Francisco and Papeete, , 25 of the officers and crew were stricken ; with influenza. They were isolated and their quarters infected, and when Pa- ' peete was reached they had recovered.
