OBITUARY.
A pathetic occurrence took pL*-o at Manurewa (Auckland) on. Saturday» when an elderly married couple, Mr and Mrs Robert M. Scott, died within-ten minutes of each other. The cause of death in each case is reported to have been cardiac failure supervening on an attack of influenza. They were old j residents of tho Manurewa district. Mr j Scott, who was aged 83, wab born in Leicestershire, England, and came to New Zealand 66 years ago. Mrs Scott, who was aged 79, was a native of Sydney, and came to the .Dominion 67 years ago. They leave a family of six daughters and two sons* One of tho much-diminished band; of survivors of the charge of the Light* Brigade at tho ■ -battle of Balaclava, Sergeant llichard Bradshaw, died at Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, recently. Sergeant Bradshaw, who was in his 88tli year, joined tho army as a youth, and served in the 17th Lancerß during the Crimean War. He also served in the Zulu War. He was also for a time in tho Royal Navy, serving under Lord Charles Beresford. He had resided at Kerikeri for ton years. Mr Charles William Adams, former Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands in Marlborough t died on Tuesday at the Hutt, Wellington, aged 78 years. Ho was a native of Tasmania, but settled in New Zealand in 1862, when hp joined the Survey Department, retiring in 1904. His two sons aro Dr. C. 35. Adams, Government astronomer, Wellington, and Arthur Adams, journalist, of Sydney.
