The Minister of Education, replying to a deputation from the Board of Governors of Wellington College an<l Girls' High_ School, regarding the <j ii est ion of increased accommodation, Raid unless a larprely-increnscd 6um was granted for buildings and educational purposes, it would be impossible for him to the demands now- being made throughout the Dominion. Apart from moneys asked for in connexion with primary and technical school buildings. a sum of approximately £108,000 would bo required if the whole of the ' applications for additions to existing secondary schools, and for the establishment of new high schools were approved. He was consistently endeavouring to obtain all the money he needoj in the field of educational development. but it was plain to him, having regard to the hesvy demands being matlo on the Government for other objects, that a loan wonld he required to bo provided for education, or tha money would hnve to be raised by imposing additional taxation.
