The "New York Times" Peking correspond ent states:—Hsu-shi u-Chang, the President-Elect, is assiduously working for peace with the south. The indications are that he will succeed. The correspondent adds that the strike of Chinese on the Eastern Railway continues. Tho engineers were forced at the bayonet point to man the. trains between Harbin and VTadivo stock in order to maintain military connexions. General Horvath is conferring with other officials, with a view to establishing a new railway administration.
