i * MUSICAL AND ELOCUTIONARY COMPETITIONS. The eecond annual musical and elocutionary competitions evening of the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Young People's Society was held last night, the proceeds being devoted to the Ambrim Cot Fund. There was a largo attendance. Tho competitors in the impromptu speech were called -upon to propose an imaginary toast to the bridesmaids at a wedding. The speeches, which were more realistic than finished, caused a threat , deal of merriment. The judges were:—Elocui tion, Mr W. H. Johnston; singing, Mr J. , McLean. Miss W.
