MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.

CANTERBURY NO. 2. The Sccond Canterbury Military Service Board sat in Christchurch yesterday, the members present being Messrs 11. \V. Bishop (chairman), M. G. Rich, and F. T. Eld ridge. iSino die adjournments were granted Percy Edward Burgess (Christcnurch), William Chaplin (appeal by Henery Burson), Herbert Moon (Christchurcb), Thomas Hough (Waitangi), Stanley Campbell Turner (Ladbrooks), Thos. W. "Wallis (Christchurch), Arthur Peter Lye (appeal by Suckling Bros.), Herman Theodore A. Barritt (Kaiapoi) (appeal by F. C. Ellis), and Leslie W. Cooper (Christchurch) (appeal b'y F. C. Ellis). . Owing to thoir having been medically classified C 2, appeals on behalf of the following were adjourned sine die:— Samuel White (Christchurch) (appeal by P. J. do la Cour and iSon), Robert Cook (Christchurch) (appeal by F. O. Ellis) Cyril Kendrich Whale (Christchurch), Henry T. Chapman (Puaha), Fred Block (Belfast), Chas. Dowding (Christchurch), Adam Chalmers (Lyttelton), James Hadley, Thomas E. Fancy, A. H. Gibb, John M. Heath, Fredk. W. Hockey, "Francois A. Frayle, Alex. J. Malone Francis L. McGregor, and Geo. W. Prebble (all of Christchurch), and Thos. H. Rides (New Brighton). Applications for the return on furlough to New Zealand of William H. "Dukes and Arthur A. Marsack, on active service, were refused. An application for a ro-hearing by Gladstone L. Mcintosh (Akaroa) was refused. The appeal of "W. J. SlcCausland (Christchurch) was adjourned for inquiry; Appellant stated that of a family of nine he was the sole survivor with his old father. The appeals of the following were dismissed :—Albert- Paynter (Christchurch), William Robinson, on behalf of his son, Rowland Robinson (Christchurch), and J. Flood, on behalf of Jam* Taylor (Lyttelton). There being no appearance the following appeals were dismissed:—Thomas Samuel*. Moore (Christchurch), and Frank E. Reaby (Christchurch). The following appeals were referred to tho Efficiency Board:—Co-trustees in estate of late A as. Knight, on behalf of Chas. Herbert Knight (Christchurch), William Robinson (Okain's Bay), A. R. Harris on behalf of Stanley Cowley /Wanganui), J. A. Harrow on behalf of Gordon Gumming (Heathcote), Percy Harris (Okain's Bay), Hutchison's Scales Australasia, Ltd., on behalf of Charles Woodward (Christchurch), and Henry Reed (Okain's Bay). Loavo was granted as follows: — November 4th—Claud Stiidley Lewis (Christchurch), Alfied H.frold Ragg (Christchurch), David Nicholson (Christchurch) (with leave to apply again). December 2nd—Joseph Honry Suckiinc (Christchurch). January Cth—"William Savage (Christchurch) (appeal by W. J. Clemens), Robert Arthur Stokes (New Brighton), Ernest H. Beaumont (Christchurch) (with leave to apply again). January Eperian Lee (Christchurch) (with leave to apply again). February 3rd—Fredk. Henry Cotton (Christchurch). The No. 2 Canterbury Military Service Boitrd will sit Christchurch to.day, at Ashhurton to-morrow, and at Timaru on Tuesday, September 17th, and "Wednesday, September 18th, and probably on Thursday, September 19th.
