GENERAL CADORNA. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) ROUE, September 8. General Cadorna has been retired to an auxiliary position owing to advancing age. A cable message dated Rome, July 13th ? stated that a decree had been published placing General Cadorna on the retired list without rank or pay. General Caxlorna's dismissal followed a searching enquiry into the debacle of last October, when tho Germans broke through Caporeto, for which Generals Cadorna, Perro, and Capello were held responsible. Tho enquiry found that General Cadorna did not put forth the utmost staunchness against tho Austrinns, and it was -suggested that lins were under Austrian clerical influence
