! Major Watts Morgan, who recently i got his D.S.O. for really distinguished I service under fire was a miners' leader iin South Wales before the war. He ! joined up in 1914, and was a great i power in raising Welsh troops, especi- | ally in the Rhondda valley. His son also enlisted in the early days, and won I his commission in the infantry. He is : now a captain in the R.A.F. Another Welsh miners' leader who has gained distinction in the field is Captain Gill, who won his M.C. on the Somme in July, 1916. Both these gallant Labour men started life in the pit.
