The Second Canterbury Military Service Board, consisting of Messrs H. W. Bishop [chairman), M. G. Rich, and F. T. Eldridge, met in Christchurch yesterday. The appeal of Abraham Tcihoka Barrett, Kaiapoi, on grounds that ho was not a reservist, was allowed, it bein<? pointed out that appellant was still liable under the Maori ballot. Ernest Edward Earnshaw'a appeal on the grounds that he was under age was allowed, as was that 'of Arthur Joseph Odoring, a conscientious objector, on the understanding that he would undertake to do non-comba- ! tant eorvice. The following appeals were dismissed :—D. H. Harvey, Christchurch; A A. Shaw, Christchurch; F. J. Twiss, Chri&tchurch; John Vesty, Pigeon Bay; David Lloyd, on active service. A recommendation for two months' furlough was made in the case of C. E. Simpson, a Main Body man on active service. Oliver James Wakelin, Wainui, was transferred to Clase F of the Second Division. The following cases wero adjourned sine die:—Joseph W. Munt, brushmaker, Christchurch; C. W. Rudkin, knitting factory manager, Christchurch; Jesse- Lang-, manure frorks engineer, Belfast; Hugh F. Rountree, slaughterman, Sockburn; AV. C. Trembath, slaughterman, Christchurch; G. J. Wheeler, flour miller, Christchurch. The following cases were referred to' the Efficiency Board for a report-—R. G. Williams, Christchurch; B. W. Thompson, ■ engineer, Ghristchurch; F. W. Priest, dairyman, Christchurch. Extensions of iimo were granted aft follows :—October 7th—T. F. Penrose, Bhristchurch; A. V. Smith, Christchurch; Duncan Beaton. Christchurch. January 6th—Alexander Milne, Christchurch. / The following appeals of men classed for heme service only w-?re adjourned sine die:— William George Braw, Herbert Lawrence Paintin. William Henry Benson, Frederick C-usack, Gordon Julius Graham Cameron, Charles James Sanderß, James Crookshank Smith, Frederick John Adcock, Samuel Edgar (Lyttelion), Oscar Wilfred B.
