RANGIOR,A MARKET. The Rangiora market yesterday was a small ono in the sheep department, but the' cattle and pig pens were well filled. Tho yarding of sheep consistc of 97 fat 3 and 741 stores. Fat wethers made 34e to 41s, ewea 30s to 435, and hoggets 27a G-.l to 325, two extra heavy making 39s and lis 6d respectively. , The prices realised for etores were:-—Four and six-tooth withers 345. 9d, 25s M ■to 355," empty ewes 23s Id, and aged ewe 3 in lamb 235. . . Cattle—There was a yarding of 86 .head and an exceptionally good demand. ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET. Owing to the rain throughout Monday, and the unsettled state of tho weather vesterday morning, there was a very small yardingat the weekly stock sale , at tho Ashburton yards. The • entry of ' fat sheep, aggregated 194, and consisted solely of wethers. Prices ranged from -S4s 3d to 493 6d. Among tho sales were:—-For B. Lill (Tinwald), 3 at 49s 6d; C. J. Peter (Anama), 30 at 41s; G. Leatham (Laurieton), 55 at 40s 6d ; D. DufE (Mayfleld), 03 at 35s 2d to 37s 3d. The. yarding of store sheep aggregated 886, and included 550 hoggets, the balance being ewes, and with the exception of two small lines of hoggets every lot submitted found buyers. Ewe hoggets made 2ts • 6d to 243 9d, .wether hoggets 25s to 275, mixed sex 16s 7d to 27s 6d, two-tooth ewes in lamb> 42s 6d, two, four, and six-tooth ewes 275, aged- ewe 3 fis 4d.. I . . ' Only four head of cattle were yarded, Jersey cross springers making £f) 10s and £15. N.Z. FIBMERS' CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION, j • THE YEAR'S WORK. At a rceent meeting of directors of tho New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., the balancc-fihect for the year ended July 31st, 1918, was considered. It showed that tho profits for tho period had amounted to £55,556 19s 7d, which, with £13,226 7s 7d brought forward from last year, makes a total to bo dealt with of £60,113 7s 2d. It vas resolved to aliocato this kutdlus a-i follows :—To pay 6 per cent, interest "on the preference sharo capital (£19,250); to pay a dividend and bonus equal to 8$ per cent, upon the ordinary uaid-up capital (£17,700) (free ot' Income Tax in both cases); to placo to the resorve fund the sum of £7312 7s 6d, which, with £2187 12s 6d representing premiums on ordinary shares allotted during tile year, will then stand at £160,000: to write 10 per cent, depreciatiou off machinery and plant (£2970); a further sum of £1000 Jto provide for depreciation ori motor vehicles used in tho Association's service; to contribute £1000 to the employees' superannuation fund; £3000 to the special fund to provide for contingencies with respect to members of the stafi at the war. Provision is also made for a war bonus to tho staff on tho same basis as last year (£3500). The year's profits have also permitted of a payment of 4 per cent. to shareholders on their purchases of general merchandise' (sundry net items excepted), and a rebate of 25 per cent, on sundry commissions earned (net busices ansd wool excepted); and to carry tho balance (£3880) forward. ■ Tho chairman, in commenting upon iho results of the year's operations, paid a high tribute to the staff's splendid services during the year, which had so materially contributed to the success of tho business. The manager, in acknowledgment, said ho had received a most loyal backing from ono and all; indeed, he considered no staff could have possibly worked more zealously and harmoniously than they had done.
