Conner Armstrong left as a trooper with the 6th Reinforcements. He saw service in Egypt and on Gallipoli and in France, where, later on, ,hIT was (tfaiisferred -to the /artillery. Ho joined the Police Force on September Ist, 1909, '4 ..being then only 20 years of ace, and was stationed in Dunfcdin up to tap time ho decided, in company with Constable P. Mullens, on August 31st, 1917, to en- > list with tho New Zealand Forces. He was a widower. youngest son. Private J. 11. Northam, is in hospital with gunshot wounds in tho right hand, anklo, and side, received on August 24th. Private Northam left with the 12th Reinforcements, and was wounded :tt Messines last year. He was in hospital ton months, and had only been back in France four months when ho was wounded the second time. Mrs A. H. Smith, 1022 Colombo street. Christehurch, has received advice that her youngost son, Rifleman Sid "Wallos, was wounded on August 22nd. He loft with the 21st ReinI'on'cmcnis. 110 was farming in the Aylesbury district before enlisting. Private James Cosil 'Woodham, whose death is reported from Tidv.orth Military Hospital, was the seventh son nf Mrs \S. Woodham. of Heathcote Valley, late of Bordesley street, Linwood. He was for many years a cartage contractor in Christchurch, and leit with the 30tli Reinforcements. ilr W. T. Doak. of Mount Somers, has beon advised that his son, LanceCorporal D. H. Doak, was admitted to hospital irf England on August 22nd, suffering from chronic pulmonary discus 1 . Lance-Corporal Doak left with the Twelfth Reinforcements. Mrs J. Bishop, Barr Hill, has been advised that her eldest son. Rifleman S. J. Bishop, is dangerously ill through gunshot wounds in tho chest and abdomen. Rifleman Bishop enlisted and left New Zealand with the Twentyfourth Reinforcements. He is 24 years of age, and prior to enlisting was engaged in farm work in the Barr Hill and Highbank districts. A younger brother left with the same Reinforcements, and both have seen considerable fighting in France. Mr J. Henderson. Hinds, has been advised that his fifth son, Private G. Henderson, was admitted to hospital in France on August 24th, suffering from a wound in tho left hip. Mr T. Mardon, Ashley street. Rangiora, has received word that his son, Private Gordon Mardon, has been gassed and admitted to a hospital in France. Private Mardon left with tho 21st Reinforcements. Second-Lieutenant Athol Hart (killed) was a son of Mr E. Hart, of Takapuna, Auckland, formerly headmaster for manv vears of the Berosford street School* Prior to enlisting in tho 31st Reinforcements, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, deceased was a member of the legal stafr of Messrs Parr and Bio®" field, barristers and solicitors, Auckland. Ho was admitted as a solicitor in tho Supreme Court of New Zealsnid, at Auckland, on March 14th, 1916. For a time prior to entering the legal profession he was engaged in the dentistry profession The annual report of the United Bowling. Tennis, and Croquet Club, v<hich was presented last night, states: "Since our last report the following members are either in training or rrone to the front, making a total ot £*>j Messrs S. W. Field, S. Paterson, and B. C. H. Whitcombe. It is with sincere regret- we havo to report tho loss sustained by the death of Messrs G. IX Seay and W. I/yons."
