ASSESSMENT COURTS.
HALSWELL VAJjU^IOJS'S. . A..', sitting of the Ab&esament Court was hold; yesterday to hear objections to valuations made in the Halswell district. The Court was composed of Messrs S. B. McCarthy, S.M. (chairman), Albert Enseman, and A. Smith. ■J. "W. Lill objected to a capital value of £10,800 (unimproved £9380 and improved value £920) on a farm of 234 acres.—The Court reduced tho capital value to £9682 and the unimproved value to £8912, the valve of the improvements to stand. . „The Ellesmer© Land Drainage Board objected to the following valuations, but the Court sustained them: —9 acres at £230 capital value and £220 unimproved value; 83. .acres, £1790 and £1760 : 28 acres, £670 and £645; 11 acres, £2SO and £240; 55 acres, £1240 and £1220 ; 20 acres, £450 and £440; 20 acres, £460 and £440. f John Coosa r objected to a capital value of £2800 and. an unimproved one of £2335, on 213 acres. The valuation was reduced to £2700 and £2110. He also objected to values of £2200 and £2135 on 61 acres. These wero reduced to £2013 and £1913. Cornelius Murphy objected to a • capital value of £2420 and an. unimproved of £1980 on 36 acres. The valuations were reduced to £2140 and £1700. H. S. Hobday (re R. M. D. Morton) ap-1 pealed again at tho valuation of £740 and £700 on 10 acree. The valuation was sustained. ~ Andrew Craig appealed against a 20-acre property being valued and £1400.
