♦ A WITNESS'S CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS. < (By Cablo.—Pxess Associatioft.—Copyright) (Receivod August 30th, 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 30. The latest development before the I.W.W. Commission is Goldstein's two contradictory declarations, which have been published. The first accuses the polico of accepting bribes of money and suits of clothes from Goldstein in connexion with the forged note case, on which Goldstein was arrested and discharged. He alleges that the police • placed the fire dope in the pocket of one of the I.W.W. accused. The . second statement withdraws all the charges, and admits that the allega- I tions are untrue. Thoy were made be- 1 cause of the persecution and ostracism he had suffered through acting as a ] Crown witness.
