SUPREME COURT. IX CHAMBERS. (Before his Honour Mr Justice Herdman.) i \ esterday a motion for a decree absolute and custody of children was granted accordingly in the case of Stella Annie Ayers (Mr W. Hoban) v. James Roderick Ayers. In re Snook v. Snook (divorce), a | motion for a decree absolute and permanent custody of children, waa granted. Mr A. S. Taylor appeared for tho | petitioner. In re Dylirberg (Mr A. S. Taylor)"V. Dyhrberg (divorce), a decree absolute with custody of children, was made. In re tho King (.Mr S. G. Raymond) v. Mary Ann Duckworth and otners, a summons to sot writ asido, the judg- | ment was, "Summons struck out. j Plaintiff allowed £2 2s costs and disbursements." 1 A summons for directions as to ser- | vice of writ, appointment of receivor, i etc., was lodged in the caso of Jamos ,K. Thompson and another (Mr D. Bates) v. Beatrice M. Cox and others (Mr A. J. Malley and Mr H. J. Bosl wick). Judgment was, "Order made appointing Public Trusteo receiver. As to paragraph -(III.) of motion (a), (b), and (c), accordingly, subject to this alteration —that -Mrs Cox, instead of bringing moneys into- Court will pay them to tho Public Trustee. For leave to servo persons beyond New Zealand a separate application must bo made. Costs reserved." In re Alfred Joseph White, deceased (Mr A. C. Fryer), a petition for leave to raiso a sum of money by mortgage, was granted accordingly. Edric Archio Robinson (Mr J. J. Dougall) proceeded against Janet and Mary Duncan (Mr H. J. Beswick) to show cause why an appeal should not be heard by way of ro-hearing. Tho summons was dismissed, with £3 Ss costs. MAGISTERIAL. (Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) THEFT. Joseph Henry James was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for the thoft of a muff, valued at £5, the property of Louisa Matthews. For the thoft of a rabbit valued at Is, the property of the New Zealand Government, John Meadows, a railway employoo, was fined 40s and costs. TRUANCY. William Marra and Jane Allen were each fined 10s for failing to send their children to school regularly. SURETIES OF THE PEACE. James Barr (Mr Sargent) applied for Sarah Hancock (Mr Hunter) to bo bound over to keep tho peace. The case was heard some time ago, when evidence was givon as to tho insulting language of defendant to the plaintiff, and as to her throwing stones on his roof and annoying him generally. The case was then adjourned for throe months, to see how tho parties, who were neighbours, got on. Yesterday a large number of witnesses were called to prove that the annoyance had not ceased, and the defendant was ordered to enter into a surety of £10 that she would keep the poaco for six months. She was also ordered to pay costs and expenses. DEFENCE CASES. For failing to register for Territorial training under the Defence Act, Victor E. Clyde. William M. Cockle, James M. Cockle, George Henry Tomlins, and Edward Baden-Powell White, were oa,ch lined 20s and costs, and Charles Lester Wright, 5s and costs. For failing to attend drill, Trevor Baas. Roland P. Breezo, Harry W. Coe, and Thomas Hoopor, were oach. convictod and • discharged; William T. Dean, j Frank Hoare, and Thomas Brady,-were oach fined 20a and costs, and Thomas •J. A. Garrett, William Peckham, and Hilary D. Smith, each 10s and costs. ASHBURTON. (Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) A. Mackenzie was fined 20s and costs for exceeding the speed limit with a motor-car. In W. J. Moore r. W. E. Clark, claim £2 15s, judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs 10s; M. F. Mcakin v. Mrs Wesley, claim £3 2s 6d, judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs 12s; in W. H. Papps v. E. Yoting, claim £10 4s sd, defendant was ordered to pay the amount at the rate of 5s per week. _ . ' Albert Sutton (Mr Buchanan) claimed from Walter Holland (Mr Kennedy) £37 Ss Bd, damages and repairs to motor-cycle, medical expenses,'and personal injuries through a collision with defendant's motor-car. . Defendant counter-claimed £14 7s 6d. After lengthy evidence had been taken judgment was given for defendant, without costs.
