FIRE BRIGADE ROLL OF HONOUR.

At the conclusion of the monthly meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board last night the members adjourned to the social room at the headquarters station, wljere the Roil of ilonour of the brigade was unveiled by the chairman of the Board, Mr H. Holland, Mayor of Christchurch, in the presence of the officers and men of the brigade.

Mr Holland said that it gave him great pleasure to unveil the Roll of Honour. The Board felt that members of the brigade had responded in tho hour of need in such a manner that their names should be handed on to succeeding brigades, to be an inspiration to them when the war was over. The Roll of Honour would let future members of the brigade feel something of the indebtedness owed to the men who had gone to the front and put up .vith hardships and privations. There wero nineteen names ' recorded on the roll; two of those who had gone had made tho supreme sacrifice, an<i two had returned disabled, in carrying out their duties members of the brigade repeatedly ran risks, and the public did not fully realise what risks they did run j but these men whose names appeared on tho Roll of Honour had risked their <ves in the great war. Mr Holland then withdrew the Union Jack which veiled the Roll of Honour.

The Roll of Honour has upon it tho following names: —G. Hay, F. Small (both killed), W. F. Brothers, A. 0. Bennett, G. Kennard, G. Barnes, B. R D. Turner. H. W. Hill, 0. Parry, T. McCormack, H. All these men volunteered; in addition, eight or ten former members of the brigade enlisted soon- after resigning from the brigade. Six of thoso whose names afe on the Roll of Honour • —W. F. Brothers, G. Hay, A. C. Bennett, G. Kennard, G. Barnes, and B. R. D. .Turner —went with the Main Body. W. F.
