Tho special order fixing the St. Martin's tramway rate and directing the City Council and tho Heathcoto County Council to make, levy, and collect tho same,, passed at a meeting held on July 15th, was confirmed. The Controller and Auditor-General wrote forwarding tho Board's balance-sheet for the year ended March 31st, duly audited. It was moved: —"That the balance-sheet, having l been duly certified correct, and having been considered by the Board, be now finally settled."
Mr Syfces objected, that the balance-sheet had never been considered by tho Board, and he moved that the final clause of the resolution stating that the Board had considered the balance-sheet be strack out.
Some discussion followed, it being pointed out that the Board had certainly technically considered the balanoe-eheet. Mr Sykes, it was euggeeted, had his remedy by giving; notice oi motion that in future the balancesheet bo placed before the Board for consideration.
Mr Sykea'fl amendment was lost, and the original motion oarricd. It was decided that the affixing of the seal to the application by the Board to become a contributor to the National Provident Fund bo approved, and also that the Board's seal be affixed to the indentures of three apprentices.
Mr Taylor moved that a return bo supplied to the next meeting of the cost, etc., of the working of the Hornby 'bus to date.
