COUNTY COUNCILS.
MALVERN. At tho monthly meeting of the Malvern County Council, there were present—Messrs Knight (chaiiman), Reid, Cuilen, Warren, McMillan, and Judd. The war resolution was carried unanimously, as was done also by the various churchoa and patriotic societies throughout the county. Tenders wore accepted from J. Stevenson, for metalling at Greoudale, and consideration of tenders for additions to a cottage at Darfiold was deferred. The " Canterbury Progress League wrote, asking tho Council to receive a deputation at its September meeting, which was agreed to. ApplVations were received for two slaughtering ncenscs, one being granted, and tiie other held over for alterations to premises. In response Jo an application from £. R. King, regarding alterations to part of a reserve occupied by h.m, it wau decided to inform him that, li any further trouble occurred about the boundaries, his lease wouid be cancelled.
Instructions were given for repairs to the bridge on the main road beyond Glentunne., the work to be carried on with as littlo inconvenience as possible to the traffic, as there is no oiher way to approach Gientunnel from the west.
Owing to the near approach of Spring, a complete list of races requiring c.eaning will be considered at the September meeting. Various repairs to roads and. bridges will b© carried out during tho month, if tho weather permits.
