A DISLOYAL UTTERANCE.

AUCKLAND, July 23. At tho Police Court to-day, Adolf Gotlies Fischer was charged with publishing an utterance indicating di loyalty, as follows: "The British are liars. They lied iu South Africa. Tho British will never win the war. Germany will never go down. She will win. J say tho British would do worse things than the Germans, and have done so, but it will never -be known, until after the war. They are getting -what they deserv.e." Evidence was given to the effect that these statements were made in a board-iug-housc. Accused said he was a Swiss and had been in tho Dominion forty years. He had eight children, and had always shown loyalty to Britain. Two of his sons were at the front. He denied making the statements alleged against him. He had lived in Germany whilo lie was between tho ages of 10 and 15 years. His wife, who had deserted him, was a German. Accused was fined £25, tho Magistrate (Mr F. K. Hunt) remarking that tho case was not so bad as if tho utterance had been made in a public place, Buch as an hotel.
