At tho last meeting of .the Ashley County Council there were present—Messrs Hugh Eneor (chairman), Hiatt, Mcintosh, and WilBon. Certain owners of dogs, not of collio breed, having applied for a reduction of the fees, it was not found possible to alter the resolution as made, and notified at the beginning of tho year. So coon as arrangements could be made a census of the dogs of the county would bo taken.

The Whangaroi County Council forwarded -jfe resolution that, when a block of land might be proposed as a soldiers' settlement, the County Council should bo notified tho particulars, so that it, might consider the suitability of the proposal. Definite approval was given to tho resolution, and it was hoped the Whangarei Council would secure the support of the greater part of the Dominion. In cases where treos made the adjacent road v/ct, the clerk was instructed to notify tho occupier to thin them out or lower them. Tenders were ordored to be callcd at onca for eowing down to grass tho 6cction recently purchased by the Council. Tenders wero also authorised to be called for cutting, cording, and clearing tho pines in the Council's yaid at the office Repairs were authorised to be done at once in the Baird'3 road district.

The clerk waa instructed to get the straying stock nuisance stopped.
