Lance- Corporal Hodgson, a Wigton footballer, who was admitted to an English hospital last month, escaped from the Germans not only by the skin of his teeth, but minus his teeth. Wounded and gassed during the recent fighting he and a comrade were taken prisoners and stripped of their belongings, even Hodgson's stockings and false teeth being taken. Later Hodgson, attired in a tunic, with his companion, escaped during a mist and leached the British linea.
