O P1 tOVINCIA L COAFEUE-NCV.. The annual Provincial Conference ol the North Carilei Intrv District of the N r ew Zealand Fanners' l' nion was continued yesterday, the president, Mr D. Jones, presiding The following motions were passed: "That this Conference requests the Government to press forward to an e.it\v eoiup.flnn uie Dura. Unmet, and the West Coast railway." •"That this Conference ol' the Farmers' Union entirely dissents from the finding of the Frozen Meat Conference held recently in Wellington, to the effect that the Government should retain control of the meat export business, being strongly or opinion that when normal conditions return, this bran'.b of our business should revert to prewar methods."' "That in view of the serious outlook of the food supply of the Dominion, this Conference enjoius on the of the. Dominion to put forth every effort to pro,-,- all the wheat possible as one of the planks of a 'win the war' policy, and would also urge the Mill'ster of Agriculture to begin to consent the present supplies of wheat." [t"was further decided to recommend that local advisory committees should ascertain the reasons v.'hy land in tiie Dominion suitable for growing wheat or oats was not being useci lor this purpose.
