*— DOMINION TOURNAMENT. FOSTER "WINS SINGLES. I (PRESS ASSOCIATION tELKGBAII.") DUNEDIN, January 23. The bowling tournament -was brought; to « conclusion to-day by tho finals of til© Smples. At tho beginning of tho day's play there •war© threo competitors left in—Foster (Caledonian), Walker (Ponsonby).-and McCurdy (St. Kilda). X ? oster was unbeaten, the other two naTil*;? on* loss each. "Walker drow the by®, and Foster and McCurdy met. From the fourth liead tho farmer always held., the St. Kilda representative, and won. by 21 points to 14. v. Walker then played Foster, and a fin© (exhibition of bowls ensued. At tho seventh head Walker led by 7 tt> 1, and at the four : teenth scoring was 18 to 5 in his favqjir. Then Foster took the mat, but was urabhf to muke up his leeway, and at tho 19th Head the ecoro was 19 to 10, making it impossible for Foster to win, so ho retired. ; J. The deciding game in the afternoon was played under perfect conditions. Very fino play resulted, the scoring being even until the game was well advanced. At . the 14 th. head the card read : Foster 10, Walker T.-.'.hAt • tho 18th head it was 11 all. At tho 19th ilioad Walker was wide, and Foster lay 3. Walker I tried to trail the inek and just missed.'by a hairy breadth, Foster putting in another ehot. On tho twentieth hend Foster scored another, and the game ended 16 to 11 in Ilia favour. - Dunedin players thus won all the competitions of the tournament. .....
