An example of the intelligence, resourcefulness and grit of the Australian boy has been brought under the notice of the Victorian Director of Education by the bead teacher of the State school at Mia ~»Iia, in that State. Oeo of her pupils, Hugli Hyslop, a boy of fourteen years, who -n-as* working for the Education Department's AVar Relief Fund, collected eight sheep as gifts from farmers in the district. The lad "was not long in determining how t& realise his asset. He drove these sheep eleven miles to the nearest railway station one afternoon, put them into a truck, and then returned home. Next morning he i-ose at 3.30, rode eleven miles, travelled by train to Kyneton, took his sheep from the trucks and drove them to the sale yards. The sheep realised £10 Us, and this sura he paid over in full to Jhe school fund. The Victorian Education Department's War Relief Fund now stands atj£2s0 1 000.
