BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SPREYDON. A meeting of the Spreydon Borough Couicil was held last night. Present —Th© Alayo r (Mr "W. H. Winaor; and Cxs. E. H. Clark, A. Manhire, \Y. Gahagan, P. Diack, A. E. Brewer, E. O'Kourke, and G. H. Rudd. Dr. Cheaaon. Health Officer, wrote, stating that a culvert in Barring'ton street, was giving forth an offensive odour, and recommended that the nuisance be abated. The matter waa referred to the Works Committee. The town clerk, replying to a communication from the' Council, said it was not thought that there would he any expense in the matter of arranging control of boundary iroadfl unless the Minister set np a commission. A charge to local bodies in connexion with the cervices of the Traffic Inspector was not contemplated.—Received. The general manager of the Christ church Tramways forwarded a. cheque for £1000 on a temporary loan at 3 per cent. —Received. The Finance Committee reported that the receipts since last meeting were £501 2s. The Electric Light Committee recommended that no alteration be mad© for twelve months in tho charge for current for power and heating. It further recommended that it should be merged into the Works Committee, seeing that all construction work was completed. It was Tesolved. to deal with the report in committee. The Mayor reported on the conference regarding the establishment of pounds -under the control of local bodie*.
