LICENSING COMMITTEES.
CHRISTCHURCH. The quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee was held yesterday. Present—Messrs T. A. B. Bailey, S.M. (chairman), C. E, Walter, K. Matiueson, H. B. Gotud, and X. C. Field, and Br. Thicker. The license of the Cate de Puna to Arthur Ros© Wiis renewed. A transfer of the license of the Empire Hotel irom Charles John McKay to Morgan. O'Brien was granted, and tho license renewed conditional upon certain repairs being effected. application by tho Licensed Victuallers' Association to allow of outside hotel lights being put out at 6 p.m. was granted. The chairman said he believed the Riccarton Licensing Committee would also agree to this request. The police reported that there were no complaints to make. ELLESMERE. Tho quarterly meeting of the Ellesmere Licensing Committee was held at th® Courthouse, Little River, on Tuesday. PresentMessrs T. A. B. Bailey, S.M. (chairman), Latter, Parkinson, Paterson, Hubbard, and Wright. The transfer of the license of the Leeston Hotel from P. Smith to R. F. Marshall was granted. . _ The report upon the Spnngs«on Hotel Yu® unsatisfactory, and after consideration the licensee was cautioned. SELWYX.
