THE LOSS OF THE APARIMA.

» Cadet J. M. Proudfoot, who is supposed to have been lost on the Aparima, is the only son of Mrs M. Proudfoot, pianiste at His Majesty's Theatre Pictures, Ashburton. Mr A. M. Ramsay, whoso name does not appear among those cadets on the Aparima who were saved, was the eldest son of the late Mr llamsay, inspector of machinery in Dunedin, and Mrs Ramsay, who lives in Roslyn. Ha was a cadet on the Amokura, and as a result of his tine work there was transferred to the Aparima. Mr W. J. Bannatyne (also missing) was an Otago High School boy. He stayed at the rectory, and left the school at the end of June to join Ihe vessel as a cadet. He was a son of Mrs E. Bannatyne. Waikouaiti, and was in his 16th year. Mr Robert Millington. who was radio-operator . on the Aparima, and who is among the missing, was born on the West Coast, and was the son of Dr. Millington, of Greymouth, but now of Auckland. On leaving school he entered the Civil Service, but subsequently joined Haywards, Ltd. He was biograph operator for the company at various places, and was also their cinematographer. Before leaving New Zealand as wireless operator '.if the Aparima, he was for three years biograph operator at The Kind's Theatre, Wellington. Wireless had always been a hobby with him, and before the embargo- was placed on amateur stations he had a well-equip-ped private installation. He was married. Mrs Millington lives in Wellington.
