SOLDIERS SENTENCED

In Trent-ham Camp orders it is announced that four soldiers, having been lonnd guilty by district court-martial of disobeying the lawful commands of their superior officers, have been sentenced t:> two years' imprisonment with bard labour. The names of the men ■so sentenced are: — 70771 Private S. F. Fountain, Trentham Details. 70(378 Private E. T. Drumm, Trentham .Details. G5250-.Private J.-Metcalfe, Army Service Corps, Trent-ham Camp.' (j(ilb2 Private A. May, Trentham Details. The following sentences were also announced: — , 07297 Private R. Mullen, Trentham Details (F Company, 30th. Reinforcements}, found guilty of deserting His Majesty's Service. Sentenced to 81 days' detention. Sentence confirmed, but militgated so that- -if the, accused embarks for active service beyond New Zealand before the expiration of his sentence, then ' the sentence of detention shall expire 'on the date of arrival at the oversea base of the Expeditioniiry Force to which he is posted, and his record" shall be endorsed accordingly. " 12141 Private AV. A. McGill, Trentham Details (K Company, 23rd Reinforcements), found guilty of deserting His Majesty's service, and losing by neglect hie equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries. .Sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for eleven months, stoppages of pay for deficiencies amounting to £4 18s Gd. Sentence confirmed, but mitigated so (hat if the. accused shall embark for active service outside Xew Zealand before the expiration of his sentence, then the sentence' of imprisonment shall expire on the date of hi* arrival at oversea. base of the Expeditionary Force to which he i* posted, and his records shall bi> endorsed accordingly.
