PROLONGED ACTIVITY CAUSES ALARM.

(press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, November 6. The activity of Ngauruhoe continues. The "Herald's" correspondent telegraphs that several violent eruptions occurred during last week, ejcctiug boulders and lava. Tho eruptions were accompanied by vast masses of flame and smoke. The valley in tho direction of Tongariro has been filled with lava emitted from a crevice which has opened in the upper wall of the crater. The prolonged activity of the volcano has creatcd alarm among the residents in the neighbourhood, whose houses are repeatedly shaken by the shocks of the eruptions.
