METROPOLITAN SHOW.
OPENING DAY TO-MORHOW.
Preparations for tho opening day of 'the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Metropolitan Show at Addington will be in full swing to-day, and all will be in readiness to-morrow for the first day of this important fixturo. Despite tho fact that numerically 'the entries this year indicate a slight decrease, there is every likelihood that every department will bo, as far as quality j s concerned, quite up to tho high standard set by previous shows. In conformity with the policy of the Association for many years past, all that possibly can be done for the entertainment instruction, and convenience of the public will be dono To-morrow will be taken up chiefly with judging, but in the . afternoon there will be several jumping evonts which aro sure to attract considerable public attention. On Friday, People's Day, there will be tho customary parade of prize-winners, tho hunters' competition.Sj and the boy and girl riders' competitions. Tho sido-shows this year promise to be as fiumeroiiß and as varied as hitherto, and the show generally will be quite up to the standard of recent years. As the amusement tax applies to agricultural shows, tho public who intend visiting the Addington Show Grounds are requested to provide themselves with tho amount of tho tax, in order to reduce tho work of those e'neatred it tho ticket offices. gaeed at
