A Ix>ndon cable message to the_Australian papers, under date of 12th. inst., states: —Sir Ernest Shacldeton, at the King's command, delivered a lecture and cinematograph display at Sandringham, when the full jonrney to Elephant Island was described. Sir Ernest is not able to lecture publicly, as he is leaving England on a Government mission.
Advice has been received by Mr G. Goldsmith, of Newmarket, Auckland, that his son, Lieut. Henry Goldsmith, has been awarded the Military Cross for services on the field. Lieut. Goldsmith left with one of the early Australian brigades. Prior to enlistment he was on the staff of Trinity Grammar School, Kew, Melbourne. He formerly represented New - South Wales , on- the football field.
The Rev. Lancelot F. Andrewes is resigning the rectory of Madreaficld, Worcestershire (m the gift of Earl Beauchamp), and has accepted the living of St. ' George '• the ' Martyr, Hblborn, which is in the'gift of the Duke 6f Buccleuch (writes our London correspondent). Mr Andrewes, who married lliss Isa Fitzherbert, Lower Hutt, Wellington, was previously for seven years chaplain to the Duke of Bucdeucit
