I PEKSONAL NOTES. i t Temporary Captain D. G. Napier (killed) was the second son of Mr and Mrs <L Napier, of 118 Olliviers road, Linwood. Ho was born at Hororata, and was in his 2Gth rear. He was educated at the Belfast School, and the Boys' High School, Chxistchurcli. On leaving school lie entered tho Customs Department, and served live years at New Plymouth, being then transferred to Christchurch, and finally to "Wellington, where he was employed at toe time of iiis enlistment with the 10th Reinforcements. While in the Customs ho studied law, and had passed all his examinations with tho exception of the final. In France he was posted to tho Now Zealand Rifle Brigade as sccond lieutenant. Ho was later promoted to first lieutenant, and acted as quartermaster to the 4th Battalion of tho Brigade for some time. Ho was subsequently promoted temporary captain, and rejoined his company in the trenches. He took a keen interest in Territorial affairs, and was 'an officer in the Canterbury Infantry, also a member of the New Brighton Surf Club, Linwood Cricket Club, and Old Boys' Football Club. Lieutenant Carrel "Watt Fidler, of tho Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, attached to tho Jitoyal Flying Corps, who died of shell wounds in Belgium, was the son of the late Mr W. Fidler, at one time schools in Auckland. Lieutenant i> idler, who was born at Auckland, joined tho forces in Canada two weeks after the outbreak of the war. Among those who recently died from wounds in France was Sergeant-Major C. G. Duley, of tho iloyal Engineers, two of who6e brothers have been resident in Auckland. He was»a brother of Driver N. M. Duley, of tho Permanent Force, now stationed at Devonport } who went with the Main New Zealand Esr>ediiionary Force to Gallinoli, where he was wounded on two occasions, receiving injuries tobowi arms and one of his thighs. Drivei Duley also served in 1' ranee. His younger brother. Private B. Duley, who was formariy on the staff of tho Bank of New Zealand in Auckland, and afterwards in Sydney, enlisted in tho Australian force, and is now iigh ing in France, where ho has; been wounded three times.

Mrs E. Murch, 266 Oxford terrace, has received advico that her son> Sapper F. M. Murch, who enlisted with, the 13th New Zealand Engineers, was admitted to the Brockenhurst Hospital on tho 18th inst. with severe derangement of 'his left knee. Sapper Murch was born and educated in Lnvcrcorgiil, and served his time as a coachbuilder with Messrs John Bath and Sons, of that city. He was a member of the Star Rugby Football club (Inverca gill), and was in its senior team, also of the Invercargill Railway Rowing Clubhand of the North End Rowing Olub, 3>unedin.

Mr J. Noonan, of Fernside, las been advised that. iris son, Sergeant-Major Noonan, was admitted to the General Hospital, Brockenhurst, on September 18th, suffering from a severe attack of pleurisy., Sergeant-Major Noonan left as a private with the 7th Reinforcements, and will be 22 on Christmas Day.
