THE FALLEN AND WOUNDED.

PEIISONAL NOTES.

News was - received on Tuesday that Trooper Donald J. A. Ferguson, was killed in action on July 10th, in Palestine. Trooper Ferguson, who left with the 7th Reinforcements, served in the South African war. Ho was formerly in the employ of Messrs It. Wilson and Co., Timaru. He leaves a wife and one child, who reside in Malbby avenue, Timaru, and. three sisters, all of whom reside in Timaru.

Mr J. H. MeAlister, private secretary to the Minister of Public "Works, has received the gratifying information that Jiis son, Corporal Hugh MeAlister, who was "gassed" some weeks ago in France, has rejoined his unit.

Mrs J. Gray, of "Willow Farm," Dallington, has received word that her son. Rifleman E. L. Gray, was wounded in France on June 27th. Rifleman Gray left -with the 18th Reinforcements, lie was educated at St. Mary's Convent School, and later at St. Bede's College. \At the time of enlisting ho was in the employ of Mr Adams, motor mechanic. Rifleman Gray has another brother, Trooper R. J. Gray, on active service.

Mr Geo. Smith, of Oxford, has received advice that his son, Sapper Leslie' G. Smith, was killed in action on July 11th. Sapper Smith went away in the 13th lleuiforcements, and had been in France only a short time. He was 22 years of age, and was educated at tho Oxford East School and the Rangiora High School. He was afterwards apprenticed to his father in the building trade.
