and sank by an enemy submarine in the Mediterranean. Server;rl officers and members of,the crew were lost. Nine were saved.'' BRITISH JOTXE-S WEEPER SUNK. (Tteceived July Bth, 0.0 p.m.) DONDON, July 6. The Admiralty reports: — "A mine-sweeper in the Mediterranean was mined and sunk. Ten of the crew are missing." UNITED STATES LOSSES. (Beuter'fl Telegrams.) (Received July Bth, 0.0 p.m.) WASHINGTON. July 6. The War Insurance Bureau has announced that the United States' losses by snbmafinings during the first sue months of 1917 wero more than eleven times greater than the total for the previous two years. AMERICAN STEAMER SUNK. (Received Jnly Bth, 5.5 pjn) WASHINGTON, Jnly 6. Tho American steamer Orleans was submarined. Four deaths aro reported. BRITISH DESTROYER SUNK. TORPEDOED IN NORTH SEA. (Australian and N.Z. Ca&le AssoaatwaO (Renter's Telegrams.) (Received July Bth. 11.10 p.m.) IvONDON, July 8. The Admiralty reports that a British destroyer on July 6th was torpedoed and sunk in the North Sea. One officer and seven men wero killed.
