THE "WEEKLY PRESS."

In addition to war pictures of special interest to New Zcalanders, tho "Wet-kly Press" that will be available to the public to-morrow contains many on other subjects of an attractive and instructive character. Chief among them may bo mentioned engravings of tho opening of the new Rest Houso on the Christchurch-Governor's Bay road, where energetic pedestrians may enjoy refreshments and scenery at tho top of Dyer's Pass. "How our Navy Men Amuse Themselves" at seasonable times is told in a scries of snapshots, and there is a fine picturo of the team that won tho longest dog-race in the world. Tho Ashburton races of last week yield a number of illustrations of winners and contests. Pictures of the war, or relating to matters alfeetod by it, are as usual selected with marked appropriateness. One of them shows worlcing parties in the great Somtno advance on their way to consolidate newly-captured trenches; another proves the value of the steel helmet, and also reminds one of the Minister foi Defence's remarks a little while back as to the need for strong men to bear the loads they have to carry; a third presents a party of our boys enjoying a bath in Egypt; and others depict a rat-proof bed, young England learning industrial work, and scenes from Aldershot and Hornchurch.
