NAVAL DEPENDANTS' FUND.
TO THE EDITOB OF "iHE PRESS."
Sir,—ln a letter from your London correspondent, dated April 20th, which appeared in your issue flf May 31st, your correspondent, alludes to tho Navy League Fund as if it wero only for the dependants of the men lost in the battle off Jutland. I feel sure mvself that, this statement is mado in error. Undoubtedly it will make those who so liberally subscribed to the fund and acted for the dependants of men lost during the period of the war, wonder if the Navy League at Home has misunderstood the intentions of givers from the Dominion. Such, I am sure, is not the c<isc. On June 28th, 1916. i cr.bled to the Navy League, London, as follows: ''Canterbury funds are for the relief of dependants naval men lost, during the. war." This cable was acknowledged in a letter from the secretary of tho Navy League, "London, dated Jnlv loth, and later in a speech delivered in the House of Commons by the Right Hon. "\V. Hayes Fisher.— Yours, ctc., ALEX. BOYLE, , President Canterbury branch of the Navy League.
