MONTHLY MEETING
Tho Itang-iora Hi~h School Board met last evening. Present—Messrs K. Ball (chairman), H. Boyd, It. Collin, P. Uorrell, J. Jlarshaal. and C. I. Jennings, also ilr T. K. Cresswell, principal of the school." A circular was received from the Xatioua! Efficiency Board suggesting tho curtailment of autumn and spring holidays, and tho extension of the summer vacation for a vmonth, in .order to obtain tho cervices oi ecaior pupils between 2s"ovembor and February for larm work. Mr Cress well pointed out that tho scholars would h-a.ro to to kept at ecboo] until about the middle of December for tho Denartmental examinations. Tho decided to reoiy that the last summer at I_bc scliool wore codeider ably extended for the object named, and a similar courso would be ador.tod next summer. Loach an'd the teaaiiing staff in matters connected with tho Agricultural Department of the school. A letter in. reply to the Minister of Education. in_ reference to certain' anomalies in rales of capitation, payable to secondary schools, giving tho Board's views on the subject, was approved. The chairman and itesare Bo;<2, Bants, and Barrel! were appointed a committee to report to the next meeting on a pronoeed revision °f the salaries of the teaching staff. The receipts for the month -were reported to -*S3 3* and payment' £?2i 10b lid, Ic-trin? a credit of £273 Ss 4d.
