SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
AXXUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra -was held last night, Mr C, H. Schmidt presiding. Tho financial statement showed xeceipie £134 9s and expenditure £112 Is lid, leaving a credit balance of £22 7a Id. The aasete were £50 3s 7d, and the liabilities nil. Tho chairman, in giving a resume of the year's work, said that the day was the first anniversary of the first meeting of llic body. The orclustra'6 policy had been rather to ploy well popular music than to aitempt the deeper compositions, and it bad succeeded in attracting the public. He paid a special tribute to the work of tie conductor (Mr A. "Woialoy). The following officers were elected:—President, Mr A. Boyle; vice-presidents, Messrs J. JamieaOD, Morris, and R. Bonoington; committee, Messrs C. T. Brown, "\V. Cookson. K. J. Estall A. Neall, D. Sinclair, C. H. Schmidt, W. Skelton, and X, F. Westvood; conductor. Mr A. "Worsley; bon. twasmer, Mr A. H. XoaJl; hon. secretary, Mr G. Fsrreli. . Totes of -were accorded Mr Zimmerman and the chairman far their past services. A social yatherins 'was then beld.
