TORPEDOED BETWEEN PORTS. UNNECESSARY FOOD LOSSES. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Keutcr'a Telegrams.) (Received May Bth, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, May 7. In the House of Commons, Sir Ixx> Chiozza Money, Assistant-Shipping Con. troller, admitted that another food ship, which had to leave port after arrival owing to lack of facilities for unloading her cargo, had been torpedoed en route to another port. Sir F. G. Banbury asked: "Do not the Government oonsider that the safe arrival of food is sufficiently important to provide unloading facilties at tho nearest port for vessels arriving in England. » Sir Leo Chiozza Money: "Tho whole subject is very serious, and is being considered." A recent cable message stated :— "Notico has bec-n given of a question in tho House of Lords as to whether the Rotorua, from New Zealand, laden with lOOjOOO carcases of sheep, etc., was sunk in tho Channel after landing lirr passengers at Plymouth, and whether she was not allowed to discharge her cargo at Plymouth, and whether other shins have met the same fate under similar circumstances."
