Foveaux Strait oysters are conspicuous by their absence in Wellington just at present, says the "Evening Post," and this has been the case for two or three weeks past. The reason is the curtailment of the railway service, only one Sonth Island Main Trunk train per day coming up from Dunedia to Chnstohurch, and some of the trains from Inver car gill being cut out. The result is that it is not possible to get the ovsters through to Wellington in a fresh condition. Naturally, tie Bluff oyster merchants are liard hit, especiallv as Wellington was their best customer. In March alone 1700 sacks wer e used hero So concerned are the Bluff dealers over the matter that they recently despatched £100 worth of oysters as a trial shipment by a coastal steamer, but on arrivel here the oysiers were condemned-
