DRUNKENNESS. A iirst offender, who pleaded guilty to being found drunk, was fined 5s with the usual alternative. WRONGLY WEARING UNIFORM. Arthur Dew is Finch was charged that not being a person serving in His Majesty's Forces-, ho wore a military uniform without the permission of the Government. Accused jjleaded guilty under extenuating circumstances. Ho was fined Ids, in default 14 days' imprisonment, and ordered to discontinue wearing the uniform. REMANDED. Gus Johnson was charged that, boing an alieu, he landed at Lyttelton without having jn his possession a passport issued to him by the Government of Sweden, contrary lo War Regulations ~ (1), dated August 21 sf. 1016. Sub-In-spector Mullaney asked that accused should lx> remanded in order that ho might, be placed upon his 1 >oat. The remand was granted, and an order made lor payment of expenses incurred. ENTERLNG LICENSED PREMISES. AII red ('. Hauson. charged with entering licensed promises while prohibited, was lined tiOs. MAINTENANCE. . Charles Henry Lught Walters, for disobedience of his maintenance order, was convicted and .sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. DUNEDIN .SESSION'S. (rr.ESS ASSOCIATION" telegram.) , DUNEDIX. May 8. W hen the criminal sessions opened this morning, the Crown Solicitor intimated that the trial of Arthur Scdgerwood, on a charge of attempted murder, would he deferred till the nest sittings owing to the young woman (Ruby McKnight), alleged" to have, been shot by accused, being still unablo to leave the hospital. The following sentences were passed: Trcavo Gardiner, for breaking and entering at Oamaru, was ordered to be detained for reformatory treatment for a period not longer than three years. Lizzie Herbert, for the. theft of Government moneys as an inspector under tho Infants Act, was ordered to come up for sentence if called npoji within twelve, months, and to pay the costs of the prosecution, £2 2s.
