QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of {lie South Rakaia Domain Board v.a« held yesterday. Present. —The Hon. C. A. C. Hardy, M.L.C. (chairman), T. Blacklev, T. Morland, J. ifc-Lean, A. J .iLigaon, F. C. May, and L. Oxley (secretary). It waa reported that the balance in hand was now £79 lis 3d, the Postal Department having for%varded £65, Wing a refund of tho coet of fencing the reserve, which the Department had resumed possession of. The Board then adjourned to the Domain, ■where an. inspection was made of tho belt cf bhjegmns and pjnes on the cast «ide of the ground between the jsath and the boundary fence _ * Mr Morland. whose property adjoinfi, pointed out that the trees were eha-dins his paddocks to a depth of several chains, and ruining the pasture. The same effect was notxeablo on Mr IJutch'fl property. At the trotting track Mr Hardy mentioned that although for years the Board had allowed people to train horses on the ground 011 payment of h fee. yet no fees had been collected, although the training went on. The fee®, he said, wore intended to recoup the leasee for any damage done. An inspection of the tennis courts revealed that the jjrass had come away well, and :ho ground had not eunkj At the hockey ground, the chairman stated that the Board bad helped the bowling and tennis clubs, and would have to do something for the hockey club. It was agreed that Messrs Hardy and Oxley engage a man to mow the grass And fill in the rabbit-hole?. The swimming bath, generally empty during the summer, was found to be full of water. It had an occupant—a hone belonging to Mr Burrowea, which. ha 4 evidently slipped over the bank while trying to get a drink and was unable to get out. The mcmbera of the Board spent some time trying to persuade'the animal to climb up the rather steep bank, but without succcfco. Mr Burrowes was sent for, and eventually the horc-e was got out in an exhausted state.
