ANGLICAN TEACHING ORDER.
TO BE ESTABLISHED IN CHRISTCHUEOH.
Miss M. E. A. Marchant, who came to Stratford to open St. MaTy's Girls' School, and who has done such excellent work for-that institution since its inception, is severing her connexion now that it is well on its feet. Miss Marchant is leaving for Christchurch (says the "Stratford Post") and it is understood that she is to take charge of a special training institution for teachers intending to take their places in Church of England Girls' School work. For the time being, >iiss Marchant will be located at Bishopscourt and it is believed that thero is a sclieme afoot for tho establishment of a hostel in this connexion. On Thursday the whole of the pupils and teaching staff of St. Mary's and the parents of the scholars were entertained at a farewell to Miss Marchant at tho residence of Mrs H. E. Abraham.
Respecting the above, Jiis Lordship Bisho]» Julius informed a representative of "The Press" that aii institution is to lie formed in Christchurcli for the establishment of a Teaching Order, and •will include a Training College for church teachers and a hostel for students preparing for the teaching, profession. Bishopsoourt has been 6et apart for the nurposes of the institution until it obtains buildings of its own. Miss Marchant, who was formerly head, oiistress of the Girls' High School, t>uncdin. and is at present, head mistress of St. Mary's College, Stratford, has accepted the post of head of the institution and will arrive in Christchurch this month. The scheme is to be pnt in operation as soon os possible after Miss Marchant's arrival.
