DECORATIONS FOR AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS.
FIFTEEN V.C.'S AWARDED. Since the first brief list of awards for at tho Anzac landing vras issued, the Australian troops have accumulated among them a vast number of distinguished service decorations, which to date total approximately 4000 (says the Melbourne "Age" of April 25th). The complete figures have not yet been worked out, but awards already announced in the Commonwealth "Gazette" include the following :— Victoria Crosses •• .. .. IS D.S.O.'fi .. ... .. .. 76 Military Crosses .. .. .. 223 Distinguished Conduct Medals .. 338 Military Modale .. .. ... 1031 French honours .. .. ... 25 Meritorious Service Medals .. 11 Boyal Humane Society's Medal .. 1 Order of St. Michael and St. George 34 Order of the Bath .. ... .. 20 Boyal Bed Cross decorations .. 21 Bare to Military Cross .. .. 1 Bars to Military Medal .. 4 Bars to Distinguished Conduct Medal 1 Mentioned in despatches .. .. 838 Complimentary mention .. .. 433 In addition tho military authorities have still to catalogue and publish the names of a fnrther 2000 soldiers who have been awarded decorations of various kinds.
