Ihe appeal is niade direct to the public of the Dominion, and J trust sincerely will not, be 1a vain. It is oniy deeds »uch as those of H.M.S. iirokc and H.M.S. bwilt that remind the public of what the Xavy is doing, but lor ail that we live and exist entirely by the protection of this magniliceao service. Such an appeal as tnat made by Lord Beresford would not be Tnade were there not dire necessity.
