The clerk was instructed to draw the Minister's attention to other matters in ' connexion, with the bridge. The District Engineer forwarded a letter from the bridge contractor, who preferred not to take up the work of fitting the bridge with traffic planke. Ho asked the District Engineer to take over the bridge as practically completed, so that Jie could proceed with the% dismantling of the old bridge; The Council expressed its wish to have the bridge opened' for _ ordinary traffic as soon as the few remaining handrails were fixed. ■ The Department was requested to go on with ohe traffic planking, without closing the bridge to the public. The District Engineer also forwarded plans of the new approaches of the Glentui i bridge, and it was decided to call for tenders. The total cutting required to make th<> improved gradient was estimated at 268) cubic yards, ajid the total filling at 1650 cubic yards. The construction of the bridge was now being pushed forward. The clerk reported on the present handwork on Dobson's road, and the upkeep of this road was again considered. The worst places as far as Lees "Valley would be dealt with bv the present camp, and teams would |bo advertised for as soon as required.
