DOMAIN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Chrisiehurch Domain Board met 03 3'r!:3ay, Mx H. Holland presiding. Tho Heathcote County Council wrote asking that its payment to the Board bo rcduced owing to the fact that St. Martin' 6 and Opawa had been severed from the county. Mr G. Harper said lie thought it would be a matter for adjustment between tho Heathcote County Council and the of it named. At present it did not concern tho Domain Board. Tho curator's report referred to the cutting of timber in the parks, renovating the river bank near the kiosk and other matters. All horticultural matters were well forward. Tho New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. had commenced* ploughing in tho South Park for the planting of potatoes. The Sports Grounds Committee reported that it was resolved to receive the letter of the secretary of the "West Christchurch School Committee and to recommend tho Board to grant-the use of a football ground i D the South Hagley Park, by the Hospital corner, at tho usual license feo of *£2 10s for the season. Tho report was adopted. The Gardens Committee reported that- it had received tho letter of the Acclimatisation Society regarding the wanton destruction of wild grey duck j e SS s - It wa3 decided to remove "the I vegetation on the island in the small j lake in North Hagley Park with a view j to planting suitable trees in pl3c©« thereof. I
The report was adopted. ' The Finance Committee reported that after careful consideration of the whole question of the proposed war bonus, it was resolved to recommend tho Board to grant an increase of 5 per cent, on the present rates of wages of the employees for the duration of the war and six months thereafter. The report was adopted, an amend- ~ ment that the increase be 10 per ccnt. •] being defeated.
