"RAYMOND."
TO THE EDITOR Ol" "THE I'RESS." Sir,—The above boot will come in for much more severe criticism than yours, which, considering your experience, is fair, and it is natural you should find parte "curiously round-about and unsatisfactory." Take a mundane illustration: lou or I wish to send a message to someone, say, in "Wellington. If we were allowed in" the operating-room here, we would speak our message to one of the operatore (the control), and ho would manipulate his instrument (the medium): so •the message would go through. ]f one sets out to get in touch with the spirit world, it is no use getting querulous or impatient, or kicking against the pricks (the conditions). In this case one must "play tbe game," conform to the rules, give up preconceived notions, -or you will go empty awav. Yes: and in the matter of clothes, too. When Mark Twain's Captain Stormfield visited Heaven, he found bis wings superfluous after a time, and discarded them. Judge Hatch (an American) is supposed to have written i "Letters from a Living Dead Man'' hi 6 poethnmous experiences about three years ago. Tf you had been acquainted with this l>ook you might have suggested that Sir Oliver wag cribbing, but I think "Raymond" is a genuine attempt on the part of Sir Oliver and his son to "make the hole bigger" and improve the means of communication. —Yours, etc., PETER TROLOVE.
