HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES,
On New Year's Day sports were held in the recreation grounds, and were ae successful aa in formw years, being we*l patronised bv soldiers, residents, and visitors. in© local sports club amalgamated with the so - diers and staff of the Queen Mary Hospital, and a strong committee, headed by Captain Hardham Commandant, carried out the programme successfully. The proceeds were in aid of the local Red Cross funds which will benefit to the extent of £18. The various events were well contested, the tug-of-war preat excitement. the two loams competing in'the final pulling against each other for fully 20 minutes, the winners getting home by a. very small margin, lhe results are as follow.— . .
